OWL Year
Welcome to your OWL year! These tasks are more centered on understanding transfiguration. Therefore, one or two sentences will not be acceptable. Treat these tasks like an essay. You can be creative as much as you want, however. If you have any questions, please message me, and I will answer you as soon as I can.

To pass this year, you must submit TWO options below to the Owlery. One from Term 1, the other from Term 2. Each is separated by Term.

Term 1:
Option #1:
There are four types of transfiguration. The types are transforming, vanishment, conjuration, and untransfiguration. Each is unique in its own way. Explain to me the difference between each of them and how you will distinguish that they are different types of transfiguration. Also, are there limitations to each of the types? If so, what are they? Provide examples of some limitations. (500 words minimum)

Option #2:
There are many instances where transfiguration can be used both offensively and defensively. Research some examples. Go into detail with about three of each defensive and offensive way transfiguration is used. Please be as detailed as you can, but you can also be just as creative. Also, let us branch from the first task. Could any of those be used as offensive or defensive? If so, provide examples that are different from what you have already discussed in this task and in the previous task. (500 words minimum)

Option #3:
There is a law of the magical world: Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration. Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration is a law governing the magical world. There are five Principal Exceptions to Gamp's Law, one of which is food. It can be reasonably inferred that Gamp's Law relates in some way to magic that creates something from nothing. It can also be inferred that the other four exceptions are other categories of substance which cannot be created from nothing. List what you think are the five exceptions to Gamp's Law, and why you believe they are exceptions. (500 words minimum)

Option #4:
Take one of the topics below and create a brochure, presentation (PowerPoint, Video, etc), or visual that would best represent the concept of the topic.
TOPICS:
Four Types of Transfiguration
Offensive and Defensive Transfiguration
Elemental Transfiguration (fire, water, earth, air)
Gamp’s Law of Elemental Transfiguration
Some things to keep in mind while creating this project:
- The information must pertain to the topic at hand.
- If you mention spells, then all spell information (punctuation, why it matters, etc) must be included.
- Grammar, spelling, and punctuation do get taken into consideration.
- Have fun! Get creative.

Term 2:
Option #1:
For this task, I would like for you to do a little practical with the Switching Spells and Vanishment. Remember that the switching spell is used to switch positions of two objects. It does work best when the two objects are the same or something similar. Examples include piggy banks to guinea pigs and top hats to rabbits. Since you are all OWL level students, I believe you would be perfectly fine to using the Vanishment spell on animals. However, which animal you choose is still up to you. While snails may be easy as they are invertebrate, I would like you to challenge yourselves as you move forward into NEWT and beyond. (500 words minimum)

Option #2:
For this option, I would like for you to choose TWO of the Four Types of Transfiguration that you could have reviewed in Term 1 and do a practical. The types are transforming, vanishment, conjuration, and untransfiguration. In your practical that you will submit to the Owlery, I want you to be as detailed as possible in providing a demonstration of the two types that you have chosen. Explain what you did and and how you did it with images, explanations, and/or gifs. I would like you to challenge yourselves as you move forward into NEWT and beyond. (500 words minimum)

Option #3:
Take one of the topics below and create a brochure, presentation (PowerPoint, Video, etc), or visual that would best represent the concept of the topic.
TOPICS:
Human Transfiguration
Cross-Species Transfiguration
Animagus vs Metamorphagus
Some things to keep in mind while creating this project:
- The information must pertain to the topic at hand.
- If you mention spells, then all spell information (punctuation, why it matters, etc) must be included.
